Agree or Disagree on Yelp’s Top 10 Coffee Shops Around Springfield?
Agree or Disagree on Yelp’s Top 10 Coffee Shops Around Springfield?

So, how about helping a new guy get caffeinated?

I love trying local coffee. Having just moved back to the area to host mornings at Lazer 99.8 and 98.5, I’m up early and looking for some good java, and a cool place to either hang out or grab a cup to go. I need YOUR feedback to help crosscheck Yelp’s data. Not counting Starbuck’s and Dunkin’, which are great, below are the top coffee picks, according to Yelp. Agree or disagree?

  1. Mocha Emporium, 1623 Main Street, Springfield
  2. Agawam’s Java Stop, 1226 Springfield Street, Agawam
  3. Goodworks Coffee House, 46 Center Street, Chicopee
  4. Giovanni’s, 719 Main Street, Agawam
  5. Crepes, 261 Union Street, West Springfield
  6. Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters, 60 Shaker Road, East Longmeadow
  7. Socialite Coffee, 1516 Allen Street, Springfield
  8. Gelato & Espresso, MGM, Springfield
  9. City Jake’s Cafe, 1573 Main Street, Springfield
  10. Donut Dip, 1305 Riverdale Street, West Springfield

There’s the Top 10, according to users of Yelp. Additionally, Don Shipman, the TV news anchor for 22 News WWLP, told me during an interview last week on Lazer 99.3 and 98.5, that he likes these specific spots:

  • Monsoon Roastery, 270 Albany Street, Springfield
  • The Roost, 1 Market Street, Northampton
  • Circuit Coffee, 22 Elm Street, Westfield

In the coming weeks, I’ll be expanding my search and ratings to other communities in Western Massachusetts. Towns like Northampton will be included, and I may even break it up regionally–north, south, east and west of Springfield.

Do you agree or disagree with the coffee shops on this list? If you have any comments, please pass ’em along to me via email. And keep in touch…

Days of downpours have begun in Hawaii. The Southwest will soon bake with day after day of record 100-degree-plus (38 Celsius-plus) heat. Two long-lost episodes of ‘Doctor Who’ have been found. Fans will soon be able to watch them

Over six decades of "Doctor Who," the intergalactic adventurer's adversaries have included evil robots, rampaging Yeti — and the BBC, which erased many early episodes of the now-iconic sci-fi TV series. A film charity announced Friday that it has found two previously lost 1960s episodes among the possessions of a deceased collector.

Oscars preview: Producers tease ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ and ‘Sinners’ celebrations

The producers behind the 98th Academy Awards have set out to celebrate not just the hit song "Golden" from "KPop Demon Hunters", but the cultural phenomenon of the film itself. That logic is why the only other nominated song that will get a moment on the broadcast is "I Lied to You," from "Sinners," a blockbuster hit and the most-nominated film of all time.
