Apparently a lot of athletes never mentally mature past the age of seven, because this seems to be a regular thing.

Yesterday, Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole was pulled from their game against the Marlins, sat down on the bench, and picked his NOSE on live television. Then he did himself one better by EATING it.
