RECALL ROUNDUP: Volkswagen, Vera Bradley top the list

VW RECALLS 150K PASSATS FOR HEADLIGHT PROBLEMS
Volkswagen is recalling about 150,000 Passat midsize cars because the headlights can be damaged if the hoods are closed roughly.

The recall affects cars from the 2012 and 2013 model years. VW says if the hoods are closed hard, the vibration or impact can cut off electricity to the low-beam headlights. Drivers would see a dashboard warning light if this happens.

Volkswagen says the problem hasn’t caused any crashes or injuries. VW dealers will install an improved bulb fitting and adjust the hood bumpers if needed at no cost to owners.

98K VERA BRADLEY RATTLES, STUFFED TOYS RECALLED
Vera Bradley issued a recall of some 98,000 rattles and stuffed toys due to a choking hazard. The toys were sold at retailers nationwide through January 2014. Parents are advise to take the toys away from their children and contact Vera Bradley for a full refund.

IKEA RECALLS 225K CHILDREN’S BED CANOPIES DUE TO STRANGULATION
Ikea is recalling several models of children’s bed canopies after receiving multiple reports of children pulling them into their beds, causing a potential choking hazard. The canopies were sold at Ikea stores and online, dating back to 1996. Consumers should stop using them and return them to Ikea for a full refund.
