Chicopee Braves Football Team Sign Ups

Join the Chicopee Braves Football Team! Early sign ups begin April 11th and 25th at Stefanik Elementary School from 10a-12p and 2p-4p. Come meet our new Eboard and sign up at the Kielbasa Fest May 21st through May 25th. Then join us for a Bike Run on May 30th at Ludlow Fish and Game Club.  Enjoy Food drinks and live entertainment. Registration begins at 11a kickstands up at noon.

Dress for Success Clothing Drive

Spring cleaning your wardrobe?  A group of Dow Jones employees is hosting a clothing drive to benefit Dress for Success Western Massachusetts on Thursday, April 30, at the Dow Jones Production Building, 200 Burnett Rd., Chicopee.  Dow Jones employees will accept your donations between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm.

Dress for Success provides disadvantaged women with professional apparel to help them enter the workforce and achieve economic independence.  Please donate your clean, new or gently used, interview-appropriate women’s suits, skirts, slacks, dresses, blouses, and jackets on hangers.  Dress for Success clients also benefit from donations of professional shoes (size 5-12), scarves, handbags, jewelry, and new (in package) pantyhose and dress socks.

To reach 200 Burnett Rd., take Rte. 291/Burnett Road to First Ave., across from Mass Pike exit 6 between AMF Chicopee Bowling and Valley Communications.  Take an immediate left and proceed to the security gate, where you will be buzzed in.

Prevent Senior Hospitalizations: Workshop for Seniors & Caregivers

Whether an adult is going to the hospital for the first time or facing re-admission, a hospital stay can be devastating.

This workshop will help you:

Learn the risk factors for hospitalization and re-hospitalization
Discover steps for a successful transition to home
Understand the five important ways to keep seniors out of the hospital
Share resources that can help seniors stay safe and healthy at home

3rd Annual Operation Friendship Golf Tournament

The Palmer Chapter of Operation Friendship is having their 3rd annual golf tournament at East Mountain Country Club in Westfield. Registration begins at 8am tee-off begins at  9am. The cost is  $85, this includes 18-holes of golf, riding cart, dinner and chance to win various prizes! Lunch Only $27.00.

Hosted by Smith & Wesson and the City of Springfield, the “Celebration of Heroes” will take place on Monday, May 25th from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. There will be live music, food and plenty of entertainment for children and families! The day’s events will take place on Roosevelt Avenue between Cottage Street and Performance Boulevard. There is no admission fee, and proceeds from the sale of tickets for activities and other items at the event will benefit The Friends of Ward 8 and The Friends of the Springfield Vet Center, two local veterans’ organizations supported by Smith & Wesson.
